A grapevine by-product extract enriched in oligomerised stilbenes to control downy mildews: focus on its modes of action towards <i>Plasmopara viticola</i>

Natural extracts, and particularly plant by-product can represent an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic pesticides control crop diseases. We produced extract from a mix of grapevine trunk roots that contain high amount complex stilbenes (grapevine phytoalexins), especially ?- r-viniferins. This conferred protection grapevines against Plasmopara viticola (the causal agent downy mildew) by displaying antimicrobial activities towards zoospore mobility sporulation stimulating defences. From the perspective its application in field, formulated preparation was proposed using polysorbate sophorolipids. The reduced development various oomycetes impacting grapevine, potato, tomato melon semi-controlled conditions. Thus, such constitutes promising strategy protect major cultivated plants mildews.
